The voting on the draft law on Making Amendments to the Civil Code of the Republic of Armenia authored by the NA deputies Sisak Gabrielyan and Vladimir Vardanyan has been postponed for up to two months by the decision of the NA Standing Committee on State and Legal Affairs.
The Committee Chair Vladimir Vardanyan informed that there have been interested debates regarding the draft, it has been revised, but there are still some issues on which there is no final position.
According to the key rapporteur Sisak Gabrielyan, the Government presented a proposal, which is acceptable for them. In case of accepting that proposal, however, there will be need for amendment in other articles.
The amendments and the addenda being proposed to the laws on RA Citizenship and on State Duty were also debated in the second reading.
The RA Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Armen Ghazaryan informed that proposals in written form were not received during the period from the first to the second reading. The Government presented a number of technical proposals. January 1, 2026 was set forth as a term for the law to enter into force.
The legislative package was endorsed by the Committee.
