The RA NA deputies Sisak Gabrielyan, Taguhi Ghazaryan and Alen Simonyan propose to make amendments and addenda to the law on Anthem of the Republic of Armenia and rearrange the text of the RA national anthem so that it ends with the line ‘May Armenia always be glorified.’
According to the key rapporteur, the Chair of the Standing Committee on Science, Education, Culture, Diaspora, Youth and Sport Sisak Gabrielyan, the purpose of the bill is to have a united approach towards one of the RA symbols, the national anthem. “Saying the RA National Anthem, we’ll clearly understand what the RA National Anthem is, what text, what music, and what duration and nuances it should have,” he noted.
As the Committee Chair said, in different times, during different events the RA National Anthem has been performed in different ways. According to him, the official version of the National Anthem, is not published in any place, there are many performances. Thus, the authors propose to enshrine by law that an edited version of the text of the National Anthem of the Republic of Armenia be posted on the website of the Government, and that version be played in all cases provided for by law.
The draft also proposes to define a short version of the anthem with approved music and text for playing during sporting events.
The Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport Zhanna Andreasyan, presenting the positive position of the Government on the draft, noted that it is fully consistent with the policy pursued by the state. The Minister noted that the amended Anthem will be played mandatory in schools, universities, as well as preschool institutions and colleges.
Alkhas Ghazaryan presented the endorsement of the NA Head Committee.
